Anyone ever dress up at the Nishijin Textile Center?

Has anyone ever done this? Do they just dress you up or do they do the makup as well to go along with the kimono?

I%26#39;ve been there twice and except for the models, I%26#39;ve never seen visitors getting dressed in kimonos, although it%26#39;s not to say they would not let you try them on, assuming you%26#39;re looking to buy.

This is not flea market stuff, expect to pay top dollar. If you%26#39;re really looking for one, check-out a temple flea market. I found two obi last year that goes for 3X the price here. Both were in perfect condition.

Haven%26#39;t done Nishijin, but we went to Gion. It was sort of pricey, but a once-in-a-lifetime experience for my daughter and niece.

HOWEVER, good news!

I found another site -- in English! (And if I were to go again, this looks far better than the photo session we had!)

Plan on a few hours. Don%26#39;t be rushed to go catch the train! :-)
