Need help with Kyoto itinerary (less than a day)

Hi,

I am heading to Japan in 3 wks time and one of my legs would be a 3/4 (from 10am onwards) in Kyoto.. We are interested to see Kiyomizu, Hei-an Shrine, Golden Pavilion and Nishiki Market. While I understand that it will be a challenge, I was hoping someone might be able to give us some directions on the most efficient way to cover these spots in less than 1 day.. I have checked the websites of the various sights and can only get directions from Kyoto Station for each of the sights.. Appreciate any tips!

Thanks very much!

It is possible if you leave Nishiki as the last stop. All of the others require daylight while the market opens to at least 8pm. Also many good restaurants are in the market area. It will be a long but productive day.

Need help with Kyoto itinerary (less than a day)

Hi,

Thanks for your tip.. I am now thinking of dropping Hei-an Shrine for Fushimi Inari. What would be the best sequence to fit in Kiyomizu-dera, Golden Pavilion, Nishiki Market and Fushimi Inari? and how can get from point to point with a subway/bus day pass? (I will have a 7-day JR pass already as well)

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Unlike, Tokyo, Kyoto is not connected with a vast subway system, but the buses are efficient tho harder to describe. Go to the tourist information center as you leave Kyoto Stn. and ask for details and maps.
