Hakone or Fuji Five Lakes?

Hi all,

have a question to ask.

Will be in Tokyo from 16 - 21 Apr.

Thinking of doing a 1 day trip to either Hakone or the Fuji 5 lakes.

Understand that from the Fuji 5 lakes, I would be able to have a closer view of Mt Fuji than from Hakone.

Question is, from Hakone, is the view of Mt Fuji so far that I will not be able to capture anything on camera with me in the foreground?

Also, is it adviseable to get the Hakone Free Pass if I intend to do the classic round trip?

Which attraction will be better? Saw that the transport cost to Fuji 5 lakes is quite steep but I am on budget. Any advise?
